And it is mighty fine :D

100% arcade perfect conversion and is one of the most enjoyable games I've ever had the honour of playing. I will be playing the full game for a long time

I have to agree with RL123, its amazing the feeling of speed the way in which the car handles, and the look - on my Plasma it looks and sounds amazing, well worth getting hold of the demo (360mb approx) from any good leading newsgroup .. nudge, nudge ...

    Drogo.

Does this demo allow Xbox live linkup ? or System Link

Neil, what's the 5% difference then? :D Whatever it is, I certainly can't see it.

I don't think I've ever played a demo that was as much fun as this one is. The final game can only be better though - this is the racing game of 2004. Hell, it's the best racing game ever made.

If you like the game so much I hope you'll be buying the full version and not downloading it?

Buying it .. sure will as long as its Xbox Live and System Link - if quality of demo is this good, then the final version with mp will rock .. and when people put this much effort into a game, then YES man I'll be buying it, when is the release ..

    Drogo..

PS. How far have you got in the demo, I keep running out of time by the castle wall ..

Release will probably be early October (maybe the 1st?)

The demo ends at the end of the Castle Wall course. If you're running out of time, have you tried changing the difficulty level? On normal you have about 2m 55 to complete it in, but on very easy I think it gives you 3m 20s

Fantastic with this and the fact that PES4 will be online on the X-Box, oh and the fact that they have reduced the X-Box to under £100 makes it a must buy in my eyes.

Old news :D Two guys from GamesTM confirmed all the extras a few weeks ago on NTSC-UK - and have now become world famous

It's great news though that Sega have allowed these extras tracks. Perfect racing game + these courses + the other extras that I know about* = Game Of The Year

    *Remake of the original Outrun!!

Yes it does its looks fantastic on 480p. BTW the demo is multiregion :)

The 5% is the difference in some of the graphics and detail. Its very close, as close as any console port could get but I still notice the differences. Playability wise, its exactly like the arcade apart from one big thing - no decent Xbox Steering wheel.
Don't get me wrong, this port is something very very special and I for sure will be buying it and hammering you on all Live :D

There is no system link in the game at all, both the demo and the full game have Xbox Live support. As to if it is the racing game of the year, I think we have to wait until Friday to find that out one way or the other. Kudos to Sega for spoiling EA's party with Burnout 3 though :)

If you're interested in a superb remake of the original in full 3D graphics then try the Sega 3DAges version. Only on import for PS2 at the moment but it's a great game - only about £15 as well & they've added a nice rival mode! It's actually more fun than the original version and the graphics are lightning fast and smooth.

Yeah it's worth a bash, definately not worth a PS2 purchase for but it's a great remake! The Dreamcast version of Shenmue2 has an arcade perfect version of outrun in it as well.

They should include it in the Outrun 2 home version though as they need to cram as much in to it as possible to provide more lastability to what is a superb and fun coin op! The Daytona & Scud Race tracks sound a great addition.

is this xbox only? if it is i'll have to buy the ugly brick after all.
I suppose I could put it in the cupboard and just have the wires trailing out.

    Quote "ugly brick"

Xbox is a little on the large size, but once its modded and has a larger HD in it - and networked it opens up a whole new world, and at £99 ... amazing value ..

Yeah, I am thinking that I will also get the brick when Outrun 2 comes out, it seemed awesome after only a quick go on the demo in Game. :)

Have to say although i've not played Outrun 2 in the arcade, I thought the demo was extremely boring. Graphics are excellent, but come on, you almost don't need to brake! Just hold down the accelerator and turn left or right every now and again.

To be fair i'm sure it'll be v.good on LIVE but (for single player at least) I doubt it'll hold much interest.

Just thought i'd offer a slightly different opinion for anyone gagging to play it after reading all the positive reviews.

Nostalgia will cause 80% of Outrun 2 sales and worth an extra point in reviews.
