    hi all,

i'd like to get some speakers for the garden. i guess there are such things as outdoor speakers and cables? can anyone recommend some budget ones maybe around £100-200 pounds? and any recs on speaker cable too.

also are there any issues i should be awrae of like safety, or perhaps more power needed for open spaces. my amp is the marantz 7200.

    thx all

I use a frog speaker from PatioTunes,i picked it up from ebay last year £45 ,these normally sell for £170ish (i don't think he knew how much they were worth). We used it quite a lot through the summer last year and it sounds great with plenty of power if needed, it has a length of 3 core wire fitted to it as it is stereo speaker.I have a very long run of 3core mains cable running down the garden through house an up to the amp, i'm not using the av amp because i have a separate amp for it.I burnt a load of tracks as wma's onto a disc and had 8hours of non stop music ,i won't forget that BBQ for a long time :D .

Just took a photo ,its been outside all year and still works a treat as we had it on the other week.

thx for your response. it looks kind of cute. i was worried about people stealing the speakers but yours kind of blends in. but i was after a stereo pair. using mains 3 core is a good idea though, i hear its pretty good for speakers.

can anyone recommend some outdoor speakers? £100-200?

    thx

i think i'm actually after some normal looking speakers that work outside. i want as good quality as i can get for £100-200 and don't want to pay more for a 'disguised style'. unless they genuinely are good quality sound.

    and recs?

and is it a good idea to go with the maind 3 core cable?

How about the B&W Leisure monitors? Not heard them and not sure about price, but I'm sure they'll be in that neck of the woods or thereabouts! :)

they look more like portables. i'm thinking of permenant speakers for the patio.

i've just done alot of searching and found hardly any. seems really strange, does no-one else have speakers in their garden?

i've found 'cambridge soundworks outdoors' that sound good and right price but i can't find them in the uk. and a few bose ones that are too expensive, and i'm not sure i trust bose.

    can anyone help?
