Out of Range when using HDMI

Hello all.

I just bought a cheap new 32" LCD from Argos.

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5292882.htm

And I was hoping to plug it into my iMac which has a mini DVI connector on the back.

I bought a Mini DVI to DVI converter then a DVI-HDMI cable hoping I'd be able to use the TV has a second monitor.

When I plug it all in: my iMac detects that I have a second monitor and lets me drag my windows and put my mouse over the side of the screenas if I'm using a second monitor but my TV just displays 'Out of Range' on it.

Could anyone please shed any light on the matter?

Thank you very much in advance.

What resolution are you running the Mac GFX card in. If it's higher than the TV native resolution the TV will not be able to display anything and will say "Out of Range"
