I'm just looking around at all the sites for Sky Digiboxes.

Forget the typical Panasonics, Grundigs etc of the world, has anyone bought the specialist ones from a dealer with say digital out or displays on the box etc?

Any recommendations for a good one say at £200 with S Video out and the like?

    Thanks.

Are there not a bunch of others like in the old analogue days?

I remember quite a few of them being around.

There are plenty of FTA (with or without a CA slot) digital receivers on the market but they are totally useless for SKY's subscription and FTV channels as those require a smartcard which then requires a Videoguard CAM and the only STB's that have them are licensed SKY digiboxes.

I'm a bit reluctant to "advertise" but - since you asked - I happened to notice yesterday that satcure have brand new GDS3000 on special offer "only a few left". This model has S-Video. I guess there won't be any more because Thomson took over the Grundig Digibox manufacturing and their version doesn't have an S-Video socket.

I bought a nearly new Pace 3100 Sky+ box for £175 off ebay. I took out the hard drive and disconnected the fan and now I have a standard box with 5.1 audio and svideo out. I also sold my old Sony box for over £200 and have a free 40Gb hard drive into the bargain.

    Result!
