Sky sports world subscribers on Sky digital can from 1st January get 4 movie channels free, channels are 302,304,306,308 or the old Moviemax channels.
The new package to ask for is G1 and is priced the same as Sky sports world at £33 per month.

Understand i can get the 4 movie channels - from your post :smashin:

As I subscribe to Skysports and Sky world package.

To activate these channels i ring the number which is on channel
    302 or 304 or 306 or 308

    Which is 08702 404020

    And quote G1

Is that right - Let Me know

As if so this is a quality spot my friend

Its that easy, you already take the movie channels so you need to downgrade to G1.

I think you just ring the normal customer service number 08702 404040

This new tier is common knowledge on other forums I just thought people on here would like to know about it.

    Glad to be of assistance.

Is Sky world not every channel? It is on the website.

I have no movie channels, just sport I think the package is called 'Sports world', this sounds like what you have.

I have just had a look at the sky site: http://www.sky.com/skycom/allpackages and for £33 can see the package:
"Sky Sports 1 and 2 + Sky Movies 2", which has the premium channels:
    Movies

    Sky Movies 2
    Sky Movies 4
    Sky Movies 6
    Sky Movies 8
    Sports

    Sky Sports 1
    Sky Sports 2

However this package doesn't contain the channels:

    Sky Sports 3
    Sky Sports Extra

which the "Sky Sports World" package has. So it looks like for the same price (£33) you can get the 4 movie channels, but you loose 2 of the sports channels. So I suppose it depends on how much you watch those 2 channels.

    Ian.

    When i ordered before christmas

    I have -

    1c - £31 a month now gone up to £33 i think

called Sky sports world including sky sports 3 and sky sports xtra.

Above this was 1b - Sky Movie world

and 1a - Sky World (Everything)

this is the family pack not value pack

i would be happy to ditch sports3 and xtra for movies though as i have never watched these 2 channels

Do they show live football on these 2 channels ever???
If not i have Sky+ to record matches anyhow

presume you still get premiership plus if you want

What is shown on these sports channels then????out of interest

Xtra had some live footy last year if I remember correctly. I think Sports 3 and Xtra come free if you pay for the other 2 anyway.

Yes you can get the movies as explained but you lose sky sports 3 and extra - judging by the website

Also not sure if this package enables me to get my Sky + subscription free - £10 month on top otherwise

    Complex scenario

Sky Sports 3 has a lot of the same as 1 & 2. Sports Xtra is groovy if you are into foreign sports - lots of international cricket and rugby. :smashin:

 That's a relief so 4 channels gained and none lost

    Bargain: well done

Always suspect Sky of not giving something for nothing though.

£2 increase is ok - for this

    A bit lost here!
Ok at the moment i pay £50 i have sky+ and one Sub.
I was going to can all the movie channels as it is not worth it and save myself £7 a month, so what you saying is for me to phone them and remove my Movie channels! and then phone back and say that i have all the sports channels can i get access to the free movies that comes with it?
    Is that right?

Downgrade directly to the new tier.

I'm told this number is the best to ring 08702 414141 which is customer relations, not all the normal advisers know about this tier which is why this number is best.

huge thread on thedvdforums about this.

I downgraded from the full package to Sky Sports World in December & was told then about this, by one of their "normal" operators - she set it up so that my subscrition changed on 1 Jan to this new package. I can confirm that since then I've had all sky sports chanels and sky movies 2,4,6,8. No Disney, & No Sky Cinema or equivalent. Beats me as to why they don't let everybody know (even a note in the magazine would help) or just switch it on.

The downside is that the movies are still rubbish and I haven't watched any - although I see that Regin of fire is on 2 on Saturday, come to think of it, I won't be watching that either.

hmsq you have lost me - Are you paying £10 on top of the £40 because you have Sky+???

As i have had Sky+, since early December and as long as you have any 2 premium channels they waive the fee for sky +

I pay £33 for Sky Sportsworld and my £10 Sky + is waived.

You are on the A1 package so should only pay £40 surely with your fee waived. And if you ring up to downgrade to G1 will get the limited movies and skysportsworld as mentioned earlier for £33

I'm just ringing to swap from C1 to G1 as described earlier in the post

    Thanks all

Basically i have sky world, but i have another box on my room and pay for that!
So basically this is how it was before the £2 increase
    Sky £33
    Extra box £15
Add the £2 increase and you get £50
So i'm going to phone them up and say i want remove the movie channels and mention to them i have all the sports channels and that there is an offer of getting movie chanels.Update:
Just phoned them up and it has been changed so i only pay £43 nice!
