    The only awareness I had of his music was through the Ken Burns documentary on jazz. The little I saw really piqued my interest but I've never got round to exploring his music more, to my shame.

    Coleman wasn't your conventional musician. Totally individual and pretty unique. He did an album with Pat Metheny which, to my ears at least, is mostly unlistenable. But Metheny covers a few of his tunes, here is a nice one.
