Congrats on you wise purchase, Thunder!

Too bad that I've to be content with just having eight SVS 16-46 (passive) to which I dearly wish and like to add a pair of B4+ subs too!...

    Congratulations Thunder. :smashin:

    Please keep us informed

I don't think you'll have time for the weight lifting classes though.

Thread crapping is not the done thing on this side of the Pond either.

You've been around the AV fora long enough to know good manners. :rtfm:

I think an apology to Thunder is urgently required here. :lesson:

I would gladly do it only if I could...but perhaps my daughter can help me on this (she's the computer hacker of the family, while I am sort of computer-challanged meself :D ), hopefully soon. I'll ask her today.

Meantime, check the thread of my HT system in AVS' "What's Your System Configuration Forum and see what you think...

I'd also be VERY interested how you intend to deal with controlling phase in a 6 sub system.

6 sub system (you mean 8 presently; 10 eventually, or so I hope)? Intend? You mean...placement? Would using electronic equipment that provides phase controlling do? What do you have in mind, my friend?

Of course, you also realize there is more to it than just dealing with the subs themselves (like room modes and other such closely related concerns) when it comes to sound reproduction in the home, right?...

    Congratulations.

A word of advice if you haven't moved a heavy object about indoors before. Place the sub on a cloth or piece of heavy polythene and slide it about on that until you find a final resting place. Much easier on the back than trying to lift it backwards and forwards.

I don't need to tell you to have fun. The SVS grin in written into the guarantee. :D

Well, it arrived yesterday! No matter how many times people said how big this sub is, it just dosnt describe it till you see it in the flesh. Its huge! My AV room is upstairs so I had to wait all day till my mate Andy came home from work to get it up the stairs despite me being quite a big lad. in the mean time I plugged it into the pre-out on my Denon micro system and left it running all day to give it a bit of a run in. Me and Andy got it up the stairs with no real probs and it fitted on the isolation platform perfectly. Barry from Tag came round at about eight and we set about calibrating the beast. I left all the plugs out as I thought it went plenty deep enough as it is. Using TMREQ first of all we ran a sine wave through it from 20 to 80hz. Quite painfull on the ears I can tell you as at certain points due to room induced peaks it reached over 105db. It actually read much flatter than my old REL even without any EQ which I was impressed with. We then took a proper reading and transferred the data to ETF real time analyzer and applied the TMREQ wizard. After some fine tuning of the auto calibration by Barry we were soon done and ready to go. Well what can I say, its not just hype! This is one amazing sub! not only does it plumb depths I've never heard before its as nimble tight and controlled as you could hope for. Barry has seen a lot of top end set ups in his time going all over the place EQ'ing them and even he was totally amazed. He said he had never heard anything like it! On the opening battle of master and commander its just plain frightening. Your under that deck with those cannons! The ice field sequence in Titan AE was equally menacing. What can I say, I'm totally blown away and totally chuffed. Cant wait to get home tonight and relive some more of my favourite movie scenes. If Barry was so impressed and hes seen the top end subs from many companies such as M&K, B&W etc all installed in top end setups then it must be good if he thinks it shows them all a clean pair of heals. And at the price an absolute bargain.
