    Hi,

Can anyone tell me the visual difference between the sagem
en the optoma? I know the specs are allmost the same
however Optoma has HD2+ and Sagem HD2

I'm only interested in the picture (don't care about HDCP HDMI or whatever)
I would prefer the Optoma but it's not delivarable (in holland) till january 2005 .. and that is a big issue for me because i want one for christmas. I can only survive christmas without a big telly if i know that de Optoma gives a really noticeble superior picture over the Sagem.

If there are any important other issues i should know . please tell me.

The price is on both is about the same here. about 2900,0 euro

I might also consider the Thomson 50 DLY644 so any info on that is also greatly appriciated.

Thanks so much for any thoughts

I know it got newer tech,, but is it that much better ?
I actually have to make a deal by the end of the month because that way
i can deduct the VAT (saves me 19%) and another minor fact is that i prefer a silver shell.

Was that supposed to be an encouragement? That is almost the same price as the Optoma, which is an updated version of the Sagem. Better DLP chip (including higher contrast), better connections, etc.

Have a look at the announcement from Sky re. their future HDTV service Click here
Still not bothered about HDCP on the DVI connection?

Lack of HDCP should be taken serious now, Sagem is completely dead by now, Optoma supports HDCP and may or not fix the current problems with jerkiness and other things.

 By the time we have a serious HDTV service all of these current sets will be relegated to the bedroom & I'll look forwards to buying a suitable new machine when the time is right

yeah i also think it will be at least 2007 before can get / afford real HDTV here in holland. And then i don't really watch that much TV. But then again i don't buy a TV just for 2 years .. AHHH now i don't what to do. Maybe i should order the Optoma and pay a bit now and the rest in 2005. That will count as a purchase in 2004 right ? (so i can deduct the VAT etc)

How much better is the brightness and contrast anyway ?

hmm i see that there are issues with the Optoma for NTSC which are not appearing on the Sagem. Does this NTSC bug also affects when you play movies from the internet (I download and watch alot of TV episodes which air in the VS) they usually air 2 years later in the dutchylands so i can't wait that long.
