Optoma have just announced the new ThemeScene HD83, the HD83 is the company's first ThemeScene projector with Full 3D 1080p support.

Optoma claim the ThemeScene HD83 has 'best-in-class' colour saturation and exceptional brightness; so confident is Optoma of its picture quality that its unique guarantee warrants image and colour quality will remain as new for at least five years.

The HD83 incorporates the next generation of the Optoma frame-interpolation processing - PureMotion4. At its lowest setting, PureMotion4 retains the “dream-like” quality of film whilst attempting to maximise the detail of every frame. At the highest setting, Optoma say the PureMotion4 'virtually eliminates motion blur' although we'd expect some serious artefacting if previous efforts are anything to go by.

For the installer or advanced end-user wanting to optimise their installation, a full colour management system (CMS+), gives the ability to choose between 5 pre-set colour gamut’s; HDTV (Rec 709), EBU, DLP Cinema, SMPTE-C & Native. Alternatively, fine-tune intensity and x/y co-ordinates of primary and secondary colours for more precision.

Justin Halls, Head of Product Management says: “Finished in matte black the ThemeScene HD83 not only has stunning video performance but looks utterly contemporary. The HD83 produces some of the highest quality 3D images available to the consumer. At such high resolution the human eye is just incapable of seeing all the details at 3m away on a small screen. Only the true large-screen experience available with a 3D projector can produce a truly immersive experience. What’s more, using 3D DLP technology means that “ghosting” is not an issue. Few companies can bring the heritage and experience to home cinema projection that Optoma does. Our ThemeScene range now boasts a 3D full HD 1080p projector of the highest quality.”

The HD83 has been developed in parallel with the new Optoma 3D-RF (radio frequency) glasses which use Wi-Fi technology to eliminate emitter placement and interference issues experienced with infra-red glasses.

A full range of analogue and digital inputs are available, including 2 x HDMI inputs with v1.4a 3D support.

The HD83 includes two pairs of 3D-RF glasses, one of which includes the RF emitter and will be available from selected retailers, priced at £2399.99.
