Optoma HD82

Hi,

The HD82 is currently available for £1169 with 3 years warranty but i'm not sure it meets my physical room requirements. Please can you offer any advice?

This is for a new setup with a ceiling mounted projector and I'd like a diagonal image of 106". The width of my room is 13" 6' and it appears that i need a 16" offset from the top of the screen (my ceiling height is 8" 1').

Will the HD82 fit and which mount would you recommend?

You are going to struggle with 106" in your size room 100" is more doable.

For 106" you will need a min 11ft-6" from lens face to screen face so allowing for the length of the pj it would be very tight. At 100" diag the throw needs to be 10ft-9" min.

Offset would be 15" for a 100" diag screen so the top of the screen needs to be 15" lower than the centre line of the lens.So you will need a mount that will get teh pj as close to the ceiling as possible.

one or two folks have used the mount below but stock is thin on teh ground right now.

106" will be a close call, but i am considering a self-build fixed frame which will give me a little more throw than a manual pull down screen. I'll give it further thought as it's better to measure twice and buy once than vice-versa !!

Another option is a shorter length projector. Are there any HD82 like capable PJs in the same price range, ideally new with warranty?

Thanks for your help.

At anything around £1200 I don't think there is anything to touch it performance wise till you get to an HD350 @ £1699.
