Hi everyone my name is Gary and I have just purchased a Optoma HD25 with 4 pairs of 3D glasses from Roy Jowett and I have bought a 120" Optoma pull down from ebuyer. I have been stalking/reading every forum for the past month and had my mind dead set on the Benq w1070 but then all of a sudden the HD25 was released and I just prefered the sound of the RF 3D glasses rather than the dlp ones.

Ive probably made the wrong decision but hey ha ha, anyway I drove my self mad in the end reading probably too much and just thought sod it I'll order the Optoma.

Iam on my 5 day break this weekend and I hope to get it set up with sky, xbox & PC so I'll come back to all you experts when I get stuck.

    Thanks

    Regards Gaz

I'm looking at getting mine next week, upgrading from hd6720. Hoping for a step up in picture quality with regards to contrast and sharpness.

I've had mine a few days now I love it the picture quality in 2d is really good.I still need to play around with the 3d settings but over all its great. Also the build quality of the projector compared to my last hd67n is much better and looks and feels more expensive than it was.

    Thanks Gazaf good to here.

That was another reason why I chose the HD25 over the Benq w1070. The build quality of the Benq seems really poor and it looks cheap, Id had a demo of the Benq at richer sounds and the guy kept trying to put me off getting the w1070 even though thats the one I wanted at first. And then when the HD25 came out it made my mind up because of the RF 3D glasses. Iam not bothered if the HD25 is a bit louder as Iam not gonna be watchin mushy films anyway Ha Ha.

    Regards Gaz

Well it's a lot quieter than my hd67n I have it mounted above my head on the ceiling and I can barely hear it.For what I payed for the projector it's a bargain I just need to get used to the settings.
Let me know what you think of it Enjoy!!!

For best results with ZF2100 glasses make sure you set 3D mode to VESA, (default is DLP link for some reason).

Also play around with invert on/off setting.

In case you wondered glasses give you 15 Hrs from full 3.5Hr charge

    Thanks

Damn 10 metre hdmi lead I got from ebay doesnt work. Checked the projector on a coffee table with sky's own 1metre cable and it works great but iam too close to the screen. Can only can about an 70" size whilst on coffee table but at least I know it works. Even so the 3d was still amazing , ive never had that amount of pop out 3d at the cinema so cant wait to get a replacement hdmi lead.

Are you using a ps3? My 10m cable didn't work at first... picture kept dropping out. I remember messing about with the ps3 display settings and got it working. Read somewhere too that long lengths of hdmi cable need to be fully unwound to work properly... not sure why?

I wish people would stop buying cheap eBay cables for there projectors , 1 or 2 meters runs are fine but not long runs

Buy a quality high speed cable and all should be fine

99% of problems are fixed with quality cables

thats interesting, so bit of a false economy then? I always thought HDMI was HDMI end of....., long as maybe it was gold etc.... all that money on projector makes sense..

Looking at the diference in width between your old one and the new one did you have to adjust the position either of the projector on the mount, the mount or of the screen at all to compensate for the centre of the lens being slightly more off to one side, or is the lens farther in towards the centre of the projector than it is on the HD67 ?

Thanks for the advice. I paid £17 for the 10 metre lead, I know thats still cheap but thought it was a good quality cable and the seller had good feedback. The cable works fine from sky to the tv but nothing to the projector. I bought a 5 metre lead from tesco and that one works great. Watched the liverpool game and tried to watch John Connor but turned it off as it was rubbish. Lokking forward to watching the 3d footy today.

    Regards Gaz

Send an unopened pair back and we will refund you the difference! Remember not to send the system eyewear.

Hi Shane , Thank you for the response but after thinking about it its probably best that ive got a spare pair of glasses with the kids etc etc.

Also thank you for the really quick delivery and excellant projector, I was a bit concerned about the reported fan noise but I find it really really quiet. Even with the dynamic black turned on and lamp set to bright its still really quiet and to be honest I have the lamp set to eco because the picture is bright anyway and with the dynamic black turned off (cant tell diff on or off) the projector is near silent.

The wife was a bit dubious when I said I wanted a projector but she is really impressed with the proper cinema feel and Iam glad I decided to get the optoma 120" pull down (sorry - from ebuyer but it was only £169 on sale) even though I thought it might have been too big but I didnt want to keep thinking "I should have got the bigger screen", ha ha.

    Regards Gaz

    Hello from Paris!

to all lucky owners of HD25/HD131X : did you play 3D blurays from HTPC ? I currently use TMT6 to play 3D blurays perfectly on my HD300X, so I dont want to have any new problems since I use only HTPC (with HDMI 1.4a cable)

Second, is the HD25/HD131X compatible with Nividia 3DTV play? Have you tried to play 3D games from an HTPC with nvidia 3DTV card?

Finally, is the contrast and/or black level noticeably better with HD131X compared to HD300X, if anyone had the chance to compare them? is it enough to justify replacing the HD300X (which I found perfect except for black levels in very dark scenes)

    Thanks!

Hi Gaz, could you kindly give us more details about the projected image quality in terms of:-

    1. Overall look and feel
    2. Black levels (details in dark scenes / Are the blacks like proper blacks or are they like dark grey)
    3. Sharpness of the image (across the screen)
    4. Highlights (details in bright areas)
    5. Overall colour accuracy (flesh tones, green grass, sky etc)
    6. Fast moving / panning scenes in terms of smoothness.

I suppose you could make some sensible judgements via movies (blu ray) like Lord of the Rings, Batman, Avatar etc.

    Cheers,

    Sam
