Seeing as these are going to be very popular PJ's I though I would start an owners thread.

So my HD131x came this morning. I am coming from a 720p Optoma 700x so my comparisons are to that.

First off it is very substantial at least twice as large as the 700x and feels well made and substantial.

So I fired it up on the coffee table and it is in a different league to the 700x with both BBCHD feeds and 1080p feeds. Much crisper.

I have a lot of light leakage into my cinema room (wooden slat blinds and whereas the image from the 700x would hardly be visible Football Focus on the 131x is very watchable and this is on the eco lamp setting.

Next off, it is quiet. Much quieter than my 700x, I have it on the coffee table in front of me no more than 18 inches away and it just quietly hums after startup. Very little audio noise, when it is on the ceiling I think it will be virtually silent to my listening position, which is underneath.

When it gets dark tonight I will take some pics and post them of the images and the light leakage around the projector (if any).

Here we go. The fullscreen snaps are done with a fast lens (in photographers speak) the zoomed out images with a slower lens in simple terms there is more motion blur in the zoomed out images.

These were taken at lunchtime with plenty of light coming into the room. The photo of the bike is there so you can gauge how bright it was. Finally the last two photos of the women and the rose is one with light in the room and the other with darkness outside.

Hi Ralph, thanks for sharing your pics!, I'm torn between the benqw1070 and the hd25, is there any chance you could post a video on you tube so we can see the picture quality in action?, that way I could make my mind up once and for all, I keep checking you tube for videos and nobody's uploading any :-(, it would be greatly appreciated!

I agree none yet to speak of, would be good to see PS3 on it too if possible?
quick question on cables for the experts...

I get the long length ones need to be very good quality... but my projector will be opposite end of room to Sky / PS3 / DVD etc.. I wanted to put short HDMI cables out of each item, then connect to long cable as needed..
so use PS3 plug short one into long one via connector, use Sky unplug PS3 and connect Sky and so on..

do you think the short cables need to be dogs ****** ones or not, and will maybe a splitter work, or stick with less interference and keep it simpler.. hope that makes sense?

    thanks

I have a 10m run to the PJ and I think my HDMI cable cost 12 quid.

I use a cablesson (support the UK economy). Their 10m cable is 13 quid and the shorter ones a fiver on a well known e-tailer site. There are 1.4a as well.

Cablesson - HDMI Cable, HDMI Splitter, HDMI Switch, HDMI Adapter, HDMI Wall Plates - Cablesson

I also use a cablesson 1 in / 2 out switch as well and it has been faultless.

Definately 1080p I have not tried 3D. My cable is the old cablesson that was 1.3 not 1.4a

On Page 39 of the manual it describes 'image shift'

How much are you able to adjust vertically?

Right how to explain this. It does not move the whole image. So fo example if you had say 1 inch of image over lapping on the left hand side and 1 inch bare projector screen on the right hand side, image shift does not move the whole image over to cover the 1 inch strip of bare projector screen. It moves the centre of the image around in the display area without moving the whole projected image. It moves the centre very little.

I noticed in setting mine up that this projector has very little movement of the whole image in setup compared to my previous projector. My advice is buy (like I did) a mount that allows the movement in all axis. i.e tilts the lens up down, tilts left and right edge, swivels the projector around a central axis and most importantly allows the projector to slide left to right horizontally so the lens can be moved to completely square to the screen.

Mine was delivered today. Setup very quickly this evening to watch the football with no picture adjustments and I am very happy with it. I've upgraded from the hd6720 and was hoping to see a step up in quality... it has exceeded my expectations! So much more detail and punch to the picture over the 6720. For the money I can't recommend it enough :)

Would love to know how this works with PC gaming?

Do you need the additional Nvision and Glasses, or can you simply output from PC to the PJ with Optomas Glasses and it works?

Same goes for BluRay from the PC?

Oh, and do they come with RF glasses?

    Cheers!

For gaming or using the Optoma HD25 with a PC make sure you are using the latest NVidia format. Their are two on the market and the older version is for 720p not 1080p projectors.

If you have the latest type of card then you should be able to output directly from your PC or Blu-ray player. Don't forget about the sound either.

Not all graphics cards output audio if your going to use the internal speakers. However I'd recommend against this as they are very poor.

    Regards, Shane.

    Cheers for quick response.

I have my PC hooked up to Speakers so no worries on sound.

I have a 560ti OC Geforce card, so a few years old.

Again, I am confused as to whether or not I need to buy Nvision, or can I just output a 3D image to the PJ from my PC without it?

    Cheers!

I'm not a gamer so it's one for another AVForums member to answer, however I feel that in order to play 3D games the standard drivers should work. You have mentioned that your card is a few years old so this I feel will be your main stumbling block.

For movies via the PC then yes you will need to purchase some form of Software to play the movie. Again, I'm sure their a number of AVForums members able to point you in the right direction.

    Regards, Shane.

Hey, I got my projector today. It is really good, I love it.

I have one question though, I've connected the RF emitter and there are red lights going on and off when not using the 3D, am I just supposed to leave it like that just flashing when not in use, or is there a way I can turn it off without disconnecting the emitter?

(Pictures and videos to follow once I get my mount)

Can anyone give me an idea as to how the HD25/HD131x compares to the HD300x? I am torn between the 2.

Both the HD25 and HD33 instore are on demo and can see a difference between the both projectors, although it is only the movement area where the difference is really obvious.

    Regards, Shane.
