Big screen 3D on a budget

The new HD25 is the latest addition to Optoma’s range of DLP home cinema projectors. The Optoma HD25 is a big screen all-in-one solution, offering a Full HD resolution with integrated Full 3D technology and built-in speakers, eliminating the need for external audio or adapters. Well, arguably but we'll reserve judgement until we've tested one.

Utilising their latest DLP technology, Optoma claims 2000 lumens brightness and 20,000:1 contrast ratio and they say the new Dynamic Black technology adjusts lamp output automatically ensuring deeper blacks for exceptional shadow detail in dark scenes, while bright scenes are crisp and clear. Again, the proof of the pudding...

The HD25 features direct support for Blu-ray 3D players, 3D broadcast signals like Sky3D and 3D games from the Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 and Optoma says you can even project up to a 300” image to create an extra-large screen that will fill your peripheral vision, creating a true home cinema environment.

    HD25 key features

    • Fully 3D compatible native 1080p resolution projection
    • Ambient light usable 2000 ANSI lumens
    • Powerful 10W built-in speakers or connect to an external audio system
    • New Dynamic Black™ technology for stunning 20,000:1 contrast ratio
    • 24p operation
    • BrilliantColor™ multi-colour processing technology
    • 5 Year Colour Guarantee

The Optoma HD25 projector will be available from selected UK retailers from 22nd February 2013; priced at RRP £799.99 and includes one pair of ZF2100 3D system glasses that carry a usual RRP of £90. The new projector will also be demonstrated live in room 314, at Sound & Vision The Bristol Show, from 22nd - 24th February 2013.

I saw this at the show and it was very impressive considering the price.

Good contrast and the the passive 3D was good aswell.

lots of light leakage from the projector...
