The led indicator for the power button is both red and blue at the same time making it seem purple. the projector won't turn on at all even though i replaced the lamp. i tried turning it on the with remote and the buttons on the projector and no response. tried unplugging and leaving it for a bit.

I looked online as asked around as much as i could and even called optoma and they don't know what to do besides sending it in. I tried looking around on forums to no avail. everyone just keeps saying replace the bulb. I'm at my wits end

Had same issue on my hd141x. Found a power sequence that cleared it.
  1. Unplug all cables including power.
  2. Hold the power button while reconnecting power button.
  3. The power led will flash rapidly at this point release the power button
  4. now all 3 leds will be lit with the lamp and temp led's flashing rapidly
  5. during this tap the power button again and you will hear a click.
  6. leave the projector for 2-3 minutes to complete a cycle.
  7. press the power button and if done correctly it should power up.
If it power's down again then you likely have a component failure/fan/bulb/sensor etc..

Life saver, thanks @Avionics! This sorted out the same issue I just had with an Optoma HD26 from 2016.

On point 6 - the light on the projector at this point was just showing red. I waited a couple of minutes, then pressed the power button and it fired up blue and worked.
