sorry if this has been asked before - is the Optoma HD700x a better option than the hd67n? Or is it 6 an 2 3s?
thanks

b
the hd67n is a better model it has a better contrast ratio and is brighter which with 3d helps as there is areduction in brightness in 3d mode. Both are very decent projector, but if i had the choice i would go for te hd67n

Something is not quite right here

The picture quality doesn't come close on a regular bluray compared to a 3d one. I'm also seeing very subtle but noticeable red and green in the image.

Please help

Thanks
That sounds a little unusual, all I can think is that it's a RBE, which I've found to be more visible on 2D content. The PJ should retain different settings for each i.e. an entirely bespoke list of settings for 3D, and again for 2D. If it's not a settings issue, and definately not the source material (for 2D demo discs, something like Predators, The Ghost, The Dark Knight and Inception are very good for tuning and checking PQ IME).

Another quick check would be to take the 3D-XL out of the loop and run the PJ straight to your source i.e. BD player, if there's no difference, you know it's not the 3D-XL box struggling with 2D content.

HTH, not sure what else to suggest.

finally hooked up the ps3 tonight it blew everyone away and i couldnt get my kids mates off it lol...ive just this minute turned it off :)

we played stadust hd (best 3d ive ever seen ),motorstorm apocalypse (jawdropping on some levels and cars looked very real in 3d)..i also installed showtime vid player on my ps3 so it can play sbs mkv they worked but the 3d looked weird on some of the movies i downloaded..i found a diversity concert and the 3d looked clear in the middle but as the picture moves out from the center the 3d looked bent ,i tried the 3d invert button but that just made it worse..i then found a loony tunes short vid that didnt give a good 3d too the pic was blurred in some areas i then put a 3d bluray on and the 3d image was outstanding again..

any ideas on how to get sbs mkvs to look good?or do all mkvs nt look as good as bluray 3d?

Aaarg! After having problems getting my PC to playback 3D blurays I decided to buy a bluray player, I got an offer of a Phat PS3 cheap and figured best of both worlds there, however Avatar 3D displays the 'put 3D glasses on now' fine, but then after a series of screen flashing/resolution messing from the PS3 I am greeted with a black screen and my only option is to press the PS button and go back to the XMB, anyone else suffered this and found a cure?

The PS3 is set to automatic and gives me the 3D screen size setting etc, FWIW the PS3 is on 3.55 OFW, and the disc will play fine in 2D mode. Obviously I have a 3D-XL and it is paired with a HD65, all cables fine.

Hair is close to being pulled :(

You say your cables are fine, but it does sound like its a cable problem going from the ps3 to the 3dxl, the ps3 can be fussy with cables for 3d, make sure the cable you have is high speed capable and not an old 1.3 cable as some dont pass the 3d signal

Definately not the cables, got Imax Grand canyon 3D playing back just fine, so an Avatar/PS3(mebbe firmware) issue, anyone else got Avatar 3D playing fine on a PS3? (don't want to update the FW unless that will fix it, I'm sure most know what 3.55 can do ;) ).

Yes, played on the PS3, looks like a FW update is needed to play Avatar properly, would be nice to hear from a fat PS3 owner first though.

it depends on how old your cable is, i had to replace my 10m 1.3 cable as i could not get it to work with the 3dxl, i got a cheap 10m high speed cable from ebay and it now works fine.

i tried the 2d to 3d conversion on my panasonic d110 last night it does recognise the 3dxl will do sbs and thats the format the 2d to 3d conversion is created but the 3dxl wouldnt let me push the sbs button to do the final tweak :( im gutted the movie i tried was star wars and it showed up on my screen as 3d and my glasses turned themselfs on once i looked at the screen so thats ok but the final bit too make it visable couldnt be done ..has anyone successfully done it with a panasonic bluray player?

also i tried piranaha 3d last night and i mentioned before i had weird issues with it that went away once i pressed the 3d invert button a few times on my pj remote theres some cool pop out offects and the rest had great depth and too be honest i thought it was a much better movie in 3d than 2d ,i watched it awhile ago in 2d and thought it was pretty crap but bought it on 3d bluray because it was cheap i got it for £3.50 and for that price its good value ...i also tried crysis 2 on my ps3 that has a brilliant floating 3d hud but the actual buildings creatures look a little flat but still ok then i tried call of duty black ops that had a really cool 3d gun effect if you zoomed in with your gun but was hard to aim with some weapons because the gun sights are slightly off so you have to aim slightly differentlly to hit them bang on samething again though most of the playing area is flat without much 3d effect..

is there anymore 3d games out there too try?ive got wipeout hd fury pack which i thougt was 3d but i cant get online to update the game if it needs it..

It does need an update to get the 3D, there is a program that will download PS3 updates on the PC so you can add them, this is I'm presuming you have a 3.55 PS3.
