decided on buying a PW7 instead of the 6 so in the future I can buy the appropriate input board and HDMI dvd player (when they are cheaper and readily available)

just don't know what input boards to buy, getting conflicting information?

options I've read from the various threads

    1) PW7 with component and RGB scart

dvd (tosh existing) to plasma with component cables
sky digibox to plasma with RGB scart

    2) PW7 with 1 component board only

amp (yamaha V620 existing) to plasma with component cables
dvd to amp with with component cables
sky box to a converter with rgb scart
    converter to amp with component

    3)PW7 with 2 component boards
dvd (tosh) to plasma with component cables
sky digibox to converter with RGB scart
converter to plasma with component cables

People also talk about VGA connections which I think are standard on the PW7. I'm just for the best picture available with sky and dvd and not looking to connect up any other equipment. I,m happy with the audio side from my amp with a Mission M74 surround sound package.

I've read that scart to scart is "soft" but any opinions on the best option would be most appreciated, or a new one.

    thanks, tam

All those options sound viable - you've covered all the main points of view on this forum anyway! :)

There is a reasonable market for second hand JS Tech convertors - so if you do go that route and then change your mind you can sell on on here for only a little loss.

Personally I went for the convertor straight to VGA input as i don't have a AV amp ... just a Sony DAVS550 - which i use for sound only as it doesn't have component or scart in :(

p.s. It might just be me ... but I think that the already good PQ on the panel gets better after the first fwe weeks. Might be a "placebo" effect though ....

    thanks zedzed

thinking of heading down the route of 2 component boards with the pw7 and convert the scart to component for the sky digibox.

I've read other recent threads that say to stay way from the PW6/7 scart input boards.... as their not up to much.

any other opinions most welcome....espicially about losing PQ by taking component through amps?

    cheers, tam

yorkie..........think i'm only about a day ahead of you in the knowledge stakes...............but it looks like you need exactly the same as me........if you go for the PW6/7

only thing is i have a tosh dvd player that has component connections...........but yours might not....the pioneer 575a is highly recommened by most for an upgrade

    I'm buying

    PW7 with free component board
JS Tech RGB to VGA converter
    set of xcomponent cables
    VGA lead
already have a decent scart for the sky to converter
    wall mount.tilting?

my mates going to buy the same.....we're hoping to do a deal with av sales, but crystal have the PW7 at £1795 including comp board and free delivery.

    hope this helps

Thanks Tam, great info mate. there is not much in the price then really between a pw6 and 7 . AV- sales have quoted 1580 quid for pw6.
One little query I have sent to me on a previous thread is that do any of the pw6/7 allow good resolution for a pc? i.e 1024 x 768 as opposed to 852x480 SD Display ?

    regards
    Yorkie
