What would be the optimal screen size of LCD TV for 2.5 m viewing distance (8.2 feet). I am thinking it would be between 37 and 42 ''...

And what would be the best TV to get for that optimal size

best advice is,whatever size you want, add 1 size,as,as soon as you get it,it will seem smaller.
so if you want a 37",go for a 42".
and it would depend on your budget as to what tv,would be the "best."
you could go budget,with the wharfdale,or similar,or higher end,like Sony/Samsung,or Toshiba.
you might be better off, looking at some models, and deciding on their finish, and what pleases your eye, when it comes to the look of the tv,as the look of it,when off,is just as important,as when its on.

this is what i advise

There is a lot of tvs out there you can go for but i would look into the spec and what you want to connect to the tv.

surely there is such as thing as 'too big' though? Eg we have a projector for movie nights, and as such we have a 37" LCD TV for normal viewing. If replaced I'd probably get a 40", but 46" would IMO be too much for the kids to be watching normal shows on.
