I'm getting a new Pioneer DV-47AI DVD (to replace my old Sony S7700)and want to know the optimal way set it up with my Yamaha RX-V95 amp and speakers.

My first question relates to the fact that I notice the 47AI has direct outputs which I can connect to the speakers, unlike the older Sony S7700, so should I connect the speakers direct to the 47AI or should I route it through the amp?

If I route it through the amp, what's the best connection? Should I use digital optical or digital coaxial ?

I realize the Yamaha RX-v795 is relatively old, but I don't want to replace it at this point, I just want to make sure I'm configuring it optimally for best performance with my new HT set up.

    Thanks.
