    Hello,

I have an optical to digital coax converter that works fine with my audio receiver (as it has no direct optical in)

I have used it fine with direct audio from my ps3 and sky hd

I've now got a new TV that outputs audio via optical out. It sends a full 5.1 signal (providing the source contains it) but I am having issues if I try to listen to audio when it is sent from my ps3 and sky via the hdmi and then out from the tv via the optical out. The signal is still 5.1 but there is constant feedback and crackling, even if I mute the speakers!

If I use the Netflix app or youtube app on the TV or play a file from a USB drive, then there is no feedback.

The audio output settings are the same, although I have tried different setting, changing to PCM, auto etc..

I would like to know if it's the small converter I use to convert the optical audio to coax and it is picking up on some kind of interference that is sent to the tv via the hdmi, as the signal is fine when it is sent from the TV if the source is not from a HDMI connection?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
