Am I right in thinking that you cannot get this sort of cable?

I plan to use the component input of my Phillips 9830 for a soft modded Xbox, however the Xbox high def kit appears to be optical and the 9830 is coaxial. The only way I can get sound for my Xbox at the moment is thru the amp. Ok most of the time, but sometimes I only want to use the TV sound.

Having searched the forum and the web, the best I can find is resorting to op / coax switchers.

This is a problem for me as they need the small power supply to run them and I have no more sockets :thumbsdow

Any ideas or am I stuck with this option?

You can't get an optical to coax lead as they are two completely different signal types. Optical passes light down a cable and coax electricity and therefore to go from one to the other you need hardware conversion, and this will need a power supply to work.

    Cheers Mark

Thought as much - guess I'll have to find that extra socket
