Hi guys, i'm really new to audio/visual equipment and could relly do with some help.
I have just bought myself a Onkyo 606 and am trying to connect it to my PC through an optical cable.I have a Auzentech X-Fi 7.1 sound card which has an optical in and out on it, i have connected it to my 606 in the optical port 1 but i cannot hear any sound.
Is there something i am missing as i can't get my head around it.

Thanks in advance.

Have you set up the receiver to use the optical port with the appropriate channel? (I haven't got mine yet, so I don't know exactly how it works :))
Make sure that the sound card has optical output enabled. I have no experience with your sound card at all, and digital sound is usually enabled by default.

Yep, just double checked everything and still nothing. I know it will be something and nothing it's just so frustrating when you can't pin point it.
