I am planning to buy Pioneer DCS-313...

It has "optical in" connection...

But i couldn't find out that this connection is either STEREO or 5.1 CHANNEL?

Can anybody enlighten me?

(I am planning to setup a 5.1 channel connection from my PC to Pioneer..)

This might help? The 99's optical input is for MD system/ Digital satellite/ or games system I would think the 313 is the same. You can download the manual from Pioneers website

There is no technical info on manuals about this...

Only it says:

"These include digital components such as an
MD player, digital satellite, or a game system.
Connect using a optical digital cable (not
supplied)."

Is it posible to this "stereo only" connection? (if yes = too bad :( )

I wouldn't think an optical input just for stereo was worth providing. I believe dig/sat can be 5:1 might be worth checking out that section out that section

I own the 313's predecessor (the 303), AlterMann. If 5.1 goodness from an external source is your thing, you won't have any problems! :smashin:

Unless something's changed...

Thank you.

Now i have to find an Electrical-to-Optical converter & cable. (My sound card is Audigy 1, that has only minijack SPDIF out)

I think its only Panasonic that for some reason have limitations on their optical inputs. Presumably a firmware issue.
