    Hi

I've just bought a Panasonic E55 DVD recorder and am trying to set it up to my Videologic Home cinema system. I currently a coaxial cable from my Tosh 330 DVD player and that gives perfect DD5.1 and DTS sound.

The E55 doesn't have a coaxial output so I went out and bought a JVC XN-J243 optical cable from currys. It connects fine but I can only get 2.0 channel stereo sound on a dvd. Any reason why this should be? Looking at a couple of professional cablong companies on the net they offer optical cables with DTS capability, does this one not have that?

    Any help much appreciated.

Beware of BS- advertising an optical cable with DTS capability stinks of it.

    Your optical cable is fine.

Are you selecting the optical digital input correctly on your AV amp? Sounds as if you're picking up the stereo analogue pair by default.
