Optical Cable not working?

    Now I don't know anything about cables, I don't even know if its the one i'm on about. I think its a toslink cable and it links my dvd player to my reciever. All of a sudden today there is no connection between them and the receiver isn't recognising the signal. I unplugged the toslink and usually it has a red laser coming out of the end. Now it doesn't. Do you think its broken?

    Have a look at the back of the DVD player and see if there is a red light shining out of the optical port (you may need to poke it open with a pen).

    If there is light coming out of the player but not the end of the cable, then your cable is broken.

    Thanks, yeah, i turned it all on this morning and nothing. Stupid thing is, it was working on Monday :suicide:
    I did what you said, there is light coming out of the back of the player. but not out of the cable. I've ordered a new one.
