Optical Cable help

Hi there,
I've been given a Panasonic SA-XR10 AV control receiver.
I'm trying to connect it up through my TV an LG 32LT75 using an optical lead to get surround sound on DVD, bluray and Xbox.

The TV has an optical output but the other devices don't.

I can't get it to work. I can get stereo on the front three speakers but nothing from the rear speakers or subwoofer.
Any ideas where I'm going wrong?
I've tried both optical connections on the AV unit and have turned the TV speakers off like the manual says. i've also tried the settings on the AV unit, the digital input light isn't lighting up.

Your devices are seeing the source as a TV so only sending a stereo signal. You could use a prologic mode to create a pseudo surround sound but may not be able to get proper surround sound unless you connect them directly to the receiver.
