optical cable advice

hi, have bought a sony str dh800 receiver and would like to benefit from 5.1 sound when watching sky.

can anyone give me advice on a mid range priced cable

It's a fibre optic cable, don't spend more than a few quid.

There are plenty on ebay for a fiver or so that will work fine. You could also use a coaxial cable, if your amp has the right input. I use an old phono cable (well half of it if you see what I mean) that was lying around for this and it works absolutely fine.

I bought a one metre on on eBay last week & it cost me £2.49 & it does the job ,

aye, for optical, so long as its well made in the sense there is no light leaking, it'll do the job regardless of the cost. Spend up to a fiver but no more unless you need a very long length.

It a digital connection - so all you need is a "good enough" cable - this is what I use PRO SIGNAL|PSG03160|TOSLINK OPTICAL, HQ, 1.5M | CPC for about £3 - but P&P will be double that!
