    Hi

I have a Yamaha AX750SE, and would like to connect my JVC Minidisc/CD player to it.

The JVC player has an optical input. I have connected an optical lead via this input and fed it into the MD/CD optical out on the Amp. This hasn't worked, I also tried installing into the optical in on the Amp, but no sound still.

Does this mean I need to use analogue (red/white) cables as well, as I'm guessing the output from the player isn't digital?

If this is the case, what is the need for the optical connection?

    Bit confused, help appreciated

As you said the JVC only has an optical INPUT on it so you can pump digital in but not out.

It does sound like the only output on player is analogue so you will have to use analogue cables to get sound through the Yamaha.

At a guess the optical connection is soyou can record digitally ontot he mini disk using a seperate dvd/cdp with a digital output.

    Hope this helps :lesson:
