One of the reasons that a lot of us own Oppo Blu-ray players is because they're relatively easy to unlock so you can play Blu-rays and DVDs from multiple regions. I originally unlocked my BDP-103EU with a hardware modification kit but if I'd known there was a software version I would have probably gone for that instead. I recently found out about a software unlock kit that's available from this website. It will cost you €89, which is the same as a hardware mod kit, but it's completely software based. From what I've discovered it's highly effective, adds a bunch of other features and won't invalidate your warranty either. I also like the way that you just select the region via the Disc Menu Language submenu. Anyway if you're an Oppo owner who is thinking of getting their player unlocked, you might want to check out Blu-ray Solution.

It's cool. Just had a read on the page. It's not only multiple regions, but also can playback iso files, even the Cinavia. Good for me, finally I can change my 95 to 105 now. I'm having a try on this.

    Steve,

Once you've done it this way, can you just select the region from the players menu? I bought mine a few months ago from a dealer with it unlocked, but it's a real pain in the arse as you have to unlock it every time using a code on the remote. And it's a bit hit and miss.

    Cheers

That's the idea, you just go into the menu and select the required region. If you click on the link it shows you how it works.

Would be good to know whether similar will be available for the 203. Likely?
(Would be happy with DVD m/r access; not too worried about BD.)

Apparently, the solution for the 203 is being worked on at the moment and will possibly be ready before the New Year.

In the meantime, it would be great to hear from anyone who has used this solution for other Oppos (103/105 etc). Anyone got any experience to share on this front..?

I purchased one for my 103, it's absolutely works brilliant to play iso and multi region. I tested all the functions on their website and works great.
It's a good news if they are working on the 203, probably I'll get a 203 after the solution is available.

How does this sort of mod cope with official firmware revisions? Are you buying a lifetime of jailbreak mods to add these features every time the firmware is revised by Oppo or is it a fixed jailbreak for a specific firmware revision?

Ah... Read the full page. Dependant on firmware release from Oppo and then a specific patch for that version. Cool.

So has anybody done this for their 103/105?
I could not find any additional info about this.
