Hi folks, I'm wondering about upgrading from my (knackered) Nokia 6100 to a Sony K500i.

I'm not in the least interested in games/bluetooth/wap, just want a small, reliable (candybar) phone that has good reception, good menus and good battery life.

I quite fancy the camera ability of the K500 and it looks to fit my above wants. Please can anyone that has used this phone post their opinions on it, good points/bad points etc.

    Many thanks!

I brought the K700 for my daughter on a good 02 deal (free phone, £19/m and 500 free texts and 50 free minutes per month ).

Great camera pictures, very good screen and the buttons are a useable size too. Phone functions are good. I personally don't like the little joystick.

I don't know what features have been removed for the K500 though

It's a nice phone. However, I've had 3 faulty ones - two had marked screens (not sure if it was a dead pixel or just a mark in the glass but it was very annoying when lit up like a twinkly star by the backlight) and the third was extremely fussy about having its charger connected: half the time it would just switch itself on, chime and then switch itself off repeatedly, rather than charging the battery.

featues that have been removed are:
    -bluetooth
-the screen is now 128x160 and it looks very pixelated and horrible
-memory has been reduced to 12M.
the calendar is still as bad as it was on the k700i (it doesn't allow you to set recurring events)

I'd have a look at the K508i which is now available on T-Mobile.... Maybe other networks soon. Its just an upgraded version of the K500i with a lens cap over the camera, with a few other little improvements.
