I have a pair of sennheisers but don't know what model they are, the left earpiece is very muted and was reading that a lot of earphones don't work well with video ipods.

They could be mate but were boxed with extra pads, I did not pick up on this until I read a review on play.com about a pair of Shure E2c and he stated

Video iPods in particular as well as other iPods have a defect where the female jack adapter only sends audio to one headphone so it's Apple's fault not your headphones.

had the same problem I guess

Im getting the same problem with my Sennheiser CX300 earphones used with an ipod touch, turned my ipod on this morning on the journey into work and all i was gettting was sound in the right ear but when i moved the wire about sound was coming out of the left but it was cracking and cutting out.

Looks like i'll need some new earphones i hate listening to music and podcasts in one ear :(

My old PC160 Sennheiser's had the same crackling in the left ear, then it started to cut out completely. I got an extra 4 months use out of them by using blutack on the wire near the phono plug to straighten the wire, as it was probably damaged by keep bending it to move around.

I now have the Sennheiser 350's for gaming, film and music & it sounds great. The wire is twice as thick, but I still put the blutack on just encase the same thing happens again :D
