Hi,

I am using my Dell Studio 15 running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. This goes into my Sony STRDH800 amp through hdmi and into the tv. The picture is fine, but i can only seem to get 2.1 sound. It will not let me select any other options under the HDMI sound properties.

I have tried ac3, ffd, ati hdmi sound drivers and am now well and truly lost!

If anyone has any ideas they would be much appreciated!

Thanks, :hiya:

  1. Left click on audio icon so you can se the list of audio devices
  2. select hdmi
  3. then go to configure
  4. go to the the advance tab
  5. Enable allow dts/ac3/Dolby Digital audio passthrough"
  6. Restart you machine

Due to the ATI hardware you have you can only bitstream 2 channels via hdmi, but you can pass though the formats listed above. Just make sure you software codecs are enabled for dts/ac3/Dolby Digital pass through.

I think I have tried that but I will def try again when i get home. Thanks for the help and I will let you know how it went.

OK, still no luck.

Going a bit mental now. I think I have done everything I need. Installed drivers and configured both the passthrough as highlighted above and the ac3 filter to allow the same.

Does anyone have any ideas or perhaps a decent walkthrough that I can check.

Thanks,

I use the shark007 codecs packs. Which contain FFDshow, which lets me set audio pass through via its audio settings.
