I have an Onkyo tx-sr605 receiver and a Sony bdp-s550 Blu-Ray DVD player. They are connected via HDMI. When I play back a DVD, the Onkyo displays TrueHD. My speaker setup is 5.1. However there is no sound from the two rear speakers. If I switch over to Satelite (or any other source), I get 5.1 sound.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advnace.

Have you got your rear speakers connected to the correct terminals?

They need to be connected to 'surround left + right' not 'surround back left + right'.

The Audyssey setup would have failed as well if this was the case so it's a long shot.

My theory is that when you are watching the other sources, the amp is using DPL IIx so you are hearing the surround back channel through your surround left + right.

When you play 5.1 TrueHD content, the amp does not matrix the surround back channel and you therefore don't hear anything.
