Onkyo TX-SR508 question/issue

Hi,

I am having issues with this amp when playing music. With multichannel audio it's great, but for some reason when listening to music, be it from CD or my iPod via the dock, I can't seem to get it to play in stereo with sub.
If I cycle through the music modes, when it comes up with either 'Direct', 'Pure Audio' or 'Stereo', there is no output to the sub.
If I use any of the DSP modes, like 'Unplugged' or 'Studio Mix' it then switches the sub on, but also starts directing audio to the centre and surrounds too.
Am I doing something wrong?

If playing audio in stereo then you'll not engage the sub unless you've given the speakers a crossover. The crossover is the point at which frequencies are directed away from the speakers to the sub. If there's no crossover setting then the receiver regards the speakers as being full range and sends all the frequencies associated with the stereo audio to the left and right speakers.

Excellent. I had the fronts set to large, and despite having the crossover set to 80Hz, it was obviously disregarding the sub. Now I've set them to small, the sub is now working in stereo mode! Thanks.

Now, all I need to do is get the damn video display working for the dock, which just won't seem to work!
