Onkyo TX-NR626 Woes

About 18 months ago the family Onkyo TX-NR626 failed and would not turn on.

Richer Sounds sent it off, and it was returned with a new HDMI board and working again.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, watching from the TV using the ARC channel and the sound starts cutting off and on again. We switched everything off and checked the connections, but now after the receiver is turned on it takes 5 mins or more before sound comes out of the speakers.

I did some digging online and did a factory reset, and set the unit up from scratch, and its run perfectly fine for the last 2 to 3 weeks but now we are back with the delay before audio again.

Not sure whats gone wrong this time, guessing the HDMI board which has already been replaced once is starting to fail again.

The receiver is still under Richer Sounds 5 year warranty, so looks like its going back to Richer Sounds in Watford again to be sent off for repair.

Replying to my own post.

I was at my parents last weekend, so I reset the receiver again to factory settings which has got the unit up an running for a second time.

This time though when doing the setup I have left HDMI passthrough disabled, it was previously on so you could watch connected sources without having to turn on the amp.

With passthrough enabled, I noticed that the unit seemed to get pretty warm even when powered off (unit is well ventilated) and with the passthrough off its not hot or warm at all when off. Just means the amp will have to be on when wanting to watch a connected source.
