Due to the recent price drop of the Yamaha RX-V673 to £350 and the 515 also to £350, i have been considering the 515 over the 616, but now that the Yamaha has also dropped i am not sure what to do.

Anyone else had to make this choice recently?

These amps are widely available so I'd suggest you go audition them and buy the one you think sounds the best.

Its one step up from the TXNR515 so only really comparable to the TXNR616. Other than that, it is purely a matter of opinion as to which is better than the other and opinion will vary from one person to another. Only you can decide and the best way of doing so is by listening to both the amps ;)

The Yamaha does have Airplay if that is of any consequence? The Onkyos both have dual HDMI output?

actually my pricing question also applys to the yahama673 checking online and it,s generally around £100 more than the onkyo £350 is a wonderous price, quandary, the convenience of 2 hdmi outputs against probable better sound quality

I went to rs this week to check out the onkyo in the exeter branch where they had it at £399 that price increases tonight to £430, though a couple of other stores are advertising it at £399.
    Re the yamaha ,
Keeping an eye on the creative audio site. No stock atm

decided to get the 616 from amazon.de, 220 saving is worth the risk!

Curious if anyone who made this decision can comment on what his/her experience is.

I'm leaning towards the Onkyo NR-616, but the instability issues that I read about, worry me a bit...

    regards,
    Robert
