Onkyo K185 Cassette player - No Power Problem

Hi,
I picked up an Onkyo k185 cassette deck that somebody was chucking out because it doesn't power on. The standby light doesn't illuminate, completely dead ! I just wondered if anybody new of any 'common faults' with this unit that I could investigate? I've only had time to check the plug and power lead to the psu for continuity and the internal fuse on the psu is fine too.

Many thanks,
nictu.

in my experience the power supply (mainly the capacitors) are quite a common failure in non functioning devices. Blown capacitors are quite easy to spot most of the time as they quite often show physical damage (swelling or bursting) when they fail.

obviously could be anything but a visual check of all capacitors you can see is often a good start to trouble shooting.
