I have BDP S550 Sony blu ray player, and a Onkyo HT-540 receiver 7.1 . I have my blu ray hooked up as multichannel to get HD sound, but on 5.1, the back speaker don't get any sound only the sides, it works well in 7.1, but the back speakers are dead in 5.1. Is there a way to matrix the side surrounds into the back surround rears, anyway at all, if there is a way what to do or buy!!! THANKS

As far as I can make out the SKS-HT540 is a US-specific 7.1 speaker set and not a receiver.

Many receivers have an option to duplicate the sound sent to the surrounds in 5.1 to the rears, dropping each by -3dB. Of course, this will only work using HDMI connectivity. With analogue multichannel connectivity you have no means of getting a signal to the rear channels - the receiver can't do it as it's too late, and the Sony BDP-S550 unfortunately doesn't offer the functionality.
