onkyo hdmi connection

    Just sorted my father out with an onkyo 506 amp, i have the blue ray player connected to the amp and then from amp to screen, as the amp does not support hdmi sound the blue ray is also connected using optical. would i
    be better of connecting the blue ray player directly to the screen via hdmi as i cannot see the point in running it through the amp, or am i missing something.

    The only reason to run the hdmi through the amp would be to make switching sources easier - but I agree it is probably better to connect straight to TV

    I use HDMI through the amp because I have multiple video sources. If you have one video source then I don't think it matters.
