    Hi,

I'm after buying an Onkyo DS-A2X iPod docking station for my Onkyo 605 and my Ipod Nano.

I've got a 1st generation Nano and not too sure if the docking station is compatible.

Can anyone confirm whether it is?

If not can anyone recommend a docking station.

It'd be a great help thanks.

Yes, is the answer according to the write up on it.

High quality audio playback, through almost any Hi-Fi.
Has its own dedicated remote control - very nice!
Recharges your iPod whilst you're using it.
Shows iPod functions / iPod video / iPod photos on your TV.
Has a built in back-rest to protect the iPod if it gets accidentally knocked (most docks have no back-rest and are very vulnerable as a result).
    Dimensions of dock: Width 112mm | Height 60mm | Depth 112mm
    Available in White or Black.
Compatible iPods - 5th Generation iPods (iPod with video), iPod photo (iPod with color display), 4th Generation iPod, 1st and 2nd Generation iPod nano, iPod mini. 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation iPods, the iPod Touch and iPhone are NOT supported. 6th generation iPods will play audio but NOT video.
Better specified than Yamaha or Denon iPod docks - and cheaper too!!

I have an Onkyo dock and it works with 5G iPod video, 3G, Nano & Mini (whole family iPod collection!)
Sounds good when attached to a my amp by means of decent phono leads, too!
I also run the composite video output from the dock to my amp, and then on to my plasma for photo slideshows with music.

I thought that composite video output from the dock was going to be rubbish (and that s-video would have been better) but to be honest, picture quality is pretty good.
Overall, it works a treat and I amvery happy with it.

The charging issues on iPod/iTouch docks affects the 2nd Gen iTouch models: Apple changed the charging system used in these models, so many docking devices like radios, receiver-connected docks, speakers, etc. do NOT charge these new iTouches any more like they did with all previous iPod/iTouch models. even many high-end docking solutions just don't charge these any more.

It is a stupid move (not the first) on the part of Apple, and more evidence of their arrogance towards their customers.

This Onkyo iPod docking station, however, DOES charge the new 2ndGen units, I'm happy to report. I guess Onkyo got the word from Apple's change in time to change their design.
