If using the relative scale then 38 isn't particularly loud. I'd suggest what you are hearing and the experience you are having are normal and there;s nothing you've relarted that would raise concern.
As suggested, use the relative to reference db scale as opposed to the absolute master volume scale. This makes it easier to understand the exact level of audio you are or should be hearing:
