Onkyo have repaired my 809 that suffered from a HDMI board failure. It failed 1-2 months out of warranty but they agreed to fix it anyway.

I don't need it now as I upgraded to an Anthem while I was without it, so I am putting it up for sale. It is in great condition, apart from a tiny (2mm) mark on the top left edge, and 2 tiny nicks on the edges of the front panels, which are barely noticeable (caused while Genserve had it for repair), I would say its pretty mint. And obviously now it's fully working, even better, probably more reliable than when it was new as Onkyo have been aware of these issues with the boards for a while.

It will come with original box, remote, manuals, microphone etc. I did actually love the sound of this AVR and was disappointed with it failed. In the meantime I had a Pioneer before getting the Anthem and IMO, the Onkyo blew the Pioneer out the water.

For full specs, see here Onkyo | TX-NR809

Looking for £350 + delivery or collection, offers considered.

Please see attached photos showing small chip on top and the 2 edge nicks on the front, they are on the left and top edge, just to the left and above the Onkyo logo.

    Thanks

    Price and currency: £350
Delivery: Delivery cost is not included
    Payment method: BT
    Location: High Wycombe

Was this unit effected by the original recall notice?, and if so was this sent back to be rectified?

    Onkyo | Product recall

Also do you know if Onkyo give any warranty on the HDMI board repair/replacement?

    Thanks.

When i spoke to onkyo, they said that this serial number was not part of the recall, but that they realised that the problem affected many more devices than the limited number in the recall hence why they are offering good will repairs even now on the Hdmi boards.

With regards to warranty of the repair, I don't know but can check on Monday.

Thanks, would like to know what warranty period they give on repair, and also returned condition prior to making an offer.

Would you agree to £330 BT? I will arrange and pay for shipping to me in Poland.
Of course I would like to see pictures before paying.

Dickz - Ok sure well I expect it back on Monday and if the condition is not how I sent it (ie mint) then it'll be going back! But I'll let you know as soon as I do!

Ptk - if prefer to send to uk only for now, thanks for the interest

In that case, I can offer £330 including delivery to an UK address.

Hi ptk, I'm reluctant to deal with users with 0 feedback after having been burned in the past, plus I have seen you have offered/purchased multiple Onkyo AVRs over the last week or so, i'm not sure why. I hope you don't take offence but it's too much of a risk for me. Mods, I hope it's ok to do this? Please let me know if I've crossed a line...

I understand your worries. The offer of my hand is still valid if you change your mind.

Techno, you are under no obligation to post internationally and I think it's quite a reasonable response to the offer bearing in mind the item.

Dickz - Looks like warranty on the repair is 90 days/3 months. Item is back in my possession now, it looks in pretty much the same condition as describe in the OP, but if I had to be picky, there are 2 small nicks on the front edge as shown in the attached photo:

    photo 1.JPG

they are small and barely noticeable but I have notified Onkyo that these weren't there before. Whether I get anywhere or not is another matter, but I doubt it considering how small they are. And they are all the "damage" i can see, if you can call it that. I'm highlighting it for full disclosure.

    Let me know

Ok thats cool, just thought id check why the Onkyo wasnt "suitable" as its a very capable amp but that makes sense now.

    Thanks

Mods - I am going to archive this thread as Onkyo have agreed to replace the casing of the amp which they "damaged" as per the pics above, so when I get it back, I will relist it as it will be mint condition then
