I just tried to pay one stop digital for a lens, but they go through paypal. Any ideas why they don't accept a credit card directly paid to them? My problem with paypal is, I hardly use them & I have to up my credit limit to them, & that means to set up a direct debit (acording to their site). I really don't want to do that with Paypal. Any ideas?

You can usually pay by card via paypal (don't login to paypal)

I'm always prompted to either enter my card details or login to paypal.

(I haven't used One Stop though)

Personally I'd stay clear of one stop digital. I've considered them in the past, but their site isnt exactly secure, and even though its a .co.uk domain they say they are based in China.

They are located in Japan. Well the office is anyway.

I've ordered lots of stuff from One-stop and it arrives within 5 days. Most expensive item is a Canon 17-55. However, if you have a problem with Canon stuff it has to go to Japan to be fixed.

There's nothing wrong with onestop digital as long as you know what it is.
i.e. the equivalent of some of the ebay sellers like DigialRev or Dzone.
Onestop used to be much cheaper than the UK and are open about warranties, etc. I've never paid tax and goods arrive very quickly (to say they come from Hong Kong) in about 4 days.
I've used them 3 times without a hitch.

On many things though now that the pound has slumped, the savings aren't worth the warranty hassle. YMMV

Regarding payments - they also accept Bank Transfer, which is how I paid once. It was very easy and only delayed things by a day or two.
From the website "You can also pay by bank transfer. For customers in the UK, you can even deposit cash/cheque directly into our UK bank account at any HSBC branch.".

You also get a 2% discount for this method (avoiding paypal).

However if you want to use a Credit Card, you have to use PayPal, although as mentioned above it's possible to do it without logging in to your account, meaning that there shouldn't be a limit.

It's up to you if you want to use them....but I work in IT I'd I'm telling you that their shop is not secure....you information is serious open to abuse if you use them.

Does it have to be secure if you use paypal/bank transfer to pay?
Which elements of your details would be available? Just name/address/email or more?

Well lots of us use them and i dont see many people (if any) complaining about them.
And their site might not be the most secure but thats probably why they use PayPal.

So you've never actually used them then ?

Posts like this drive me mad

Onestop Digital are probably the best and most reputable Honk Kong company around.
I've bought loads from them and I know other forum users have as well.
    I've never had a problem.

I'd be very interested in the views of members who have actually used them.

Ive spent around £300-£400 with them over the past year. No complaints and no money gone missing from my account because of it ;-)

If you'd just like to post the evidence to support your claim then we can all consider it.

I don't know, all my stuff from OSD hasn't failed. Usually a return to HK is required as you are buying from outside the UK (for Sigma at least), but if you're buying Tamron, check with the importer (Intro 2020). This subject has been done to death already . . . . . . try the search facility.

I used them once as well... I was a bit worried at first, but didn't encounter any problems and will probably use them again in the future.

The previous 'IT expert' is a moron. I really am an IT expert, I build very large eCommerce platforms for a living, and Onestop IS secure. the 'expert' is correct in stating that the shopping cart area of the site is not secure (By this I mean does not use HTTPS). This can be verified by the lack of a 'yellow padlock' in your browser window, however as soon as you select 'Check out' your order is handled by Paypal, which most definitely IS secure. This method of operation is common best practice. (Running your entire site over HTTPS adds unnecessary CPU drain, requiring more servers to do the same work)

I have used Onestop three times over the last year, spending around £2500 and saving around £700 on the best UK prices. I would definitely recommend them as long as you are happy with the fact that you are not getting a UK warranty.

I have one more question about one stop digital. Im going to buy canon 135mm f2, the price is £712. My question is how much additional costs I have to pay when delivery arrive ? I know that OSD will refund later all vat, tax etc costs.

    sorry for my english :D

I bought a Nikon flash a few years back and at that time they guaranteed to pay any customs fee. Not sure if that's still the case though.
