    Hi Guys

Thanks for the help so far, one last question.

I've looked at the amps and I think the denon 1907 is the way to go for me, I have found it for £310 at PeterTyson

Speaker wise I'm looking at the pioneer sv50 set for £140 from PeterTyson

Hows this sound to you guys, Are the speakers going to work OK or do I need to look at a little bit more expensive ones? Has anyone got this set-up?

Now for my stupid question (new to this all, first time). Do I need to by speaker cables and wires as well or do they come with the speakers? What sort of connectors come with an amp, I will need a coaxil and an optical, will these be included or do I need to look at these as well?

    Thanks
    Bez

No experience with the speakers so cant comment, but all you will get with the amp is the remote and some batteries. Also all you get with the speakers is....... the speakers. The general rule of thumb is around ten per cent of the cost of amp and speakers goes on speaker cable and interconnects. I would pay around £5 to £8 per meter for speaker cable. For the interconnects go for coaxial and pay around £15 to £20.

The few cheap ish speaker packages I have seen have come with some cheap bell wire looking speaker cable. Might be worth asking the dealer.

I've never seen those speakers but your Denon amp choice will be very happy with bigger and better speakers when your budget allows it.

Personally I would pop along to a dealer that sells the amp and get a demo with various speakers - some above your budget.

OK thanks for the advice. I'll have to see if I can find some dealers near me to visit.

I've done as suggested, went to my local hi-fi specialist. They were helpful but didn't have the denon in stock.

I was shown a sony model (str db780) I think it was with a set of KEF speakers, the £1000 ones. It sounded really really nice.

He offered me the amp and kef 1005 speakers for £500 (a small discount), does this sound like a fair deal?
