One box Blu Ray Hi-Fi receiver required.

A newbie writes :hiya:

I have too little space available for separates, so need a one-box solution to cater for my needs, both AV and also hifi. I had looked at the Denon Cara, but have rejected this on cost and bulk grounds.

I already have a 2.1 speaker set up in place, but may be looking to upgrade that separately. So far, it has come down to a straight choice between the Marantz MER 803 and the Denon RBDX1000 systems.

Any thoughts on either of these options? Or an alternative (still needs to be one-box I'm afraid, with all compromises that involves). Grateful for any assistance! Russell

Those systems seem pricey, but I would imagine packed full of music extras..

What kind of abilities do you require in terms of music playing...........

Thanks for the feedback. For music playback, primarily will be looking to plug my Sonos music streaming box into the back of it (not lossless, but majority of my music collection is mp3 condensed at 320 kps minimum) and would also be looking to play CDs.

I have read that majority of one blu ray box solutions compromise on the quality of stereo playback, but I am looking for something which will be equally strong in both areas.

So am willing to go up to £1000m before I start looking to upgrade speakers and TV. Am already sorted for recording with the new Virgin Tivo box and I only have space left (under TV) for one box which functions as blu ray and music centre with amp built in.....
