    Hi all, i've got 3 hdds, 1 x 80gb with xp on and 2 x 1tb for storage.

I don't want to set up a raid (not really sure what it is tbh) , but i do want to make sure my sata drives are as quick as they can be.

What setting do i need to have on my gigabyte bios for onchip sata mode?

    Is currently on ide.

IDE is correct and the performance increase you get when changing it to SATA or whatever the mobo manufacturer calls it will be negligible.

The biggest increase in speed you will get is by putting your OS on one of your 1TB drives. I expect the 80Gb SATA you have have is an SATA1 8mb cache?

The terrabyte jobs will likely be SATA2 and 16 or 32mb cache and will give far better OS performance.
