Right, Im on the verge of buying a load of stuff, and just need to make sure Im getting it right.

    Ive decided on getting:

    Hitachi TX100
DRH Slimline 92" matt white screen
    Mark Grant component cable
Pioneer 575 dvd player (My 717 doesnt have component, or progressive scan)

    That look right to everyone?

If I can get the Sanyo Z2 for about £250 cheaper than the TX100, would it be worth it? I'm going to be sitting about 9ft from the screen.

    Thanks

A friend of a friend of a friend is selling the Sanyo for about £800. But I've heard bad things about its brightness and vertical banding.

I'd maybe get a smaller screen if you're only going to be sitting 9' away from it. 1.5 -> 2 times the screen size is the recommended viewing distance.

For brightness on the Sanyo, it is advantageous to have control over the ambient light in the viewing room, doesn't perform so well in daylight conditions.

Ive had the sanyo Z2 before, at about that price. However it had a few probs so got a refund.

Now I have laid down the cash for the TX100 which I should be picking up this saturday. I will let you know my comparison of the two.

Although I have spoken with Urban T who has traded his Z2 for the Hitachi.

My personal advice, buy new when your spending that much! That way you have the warranty etc to fall back on if anything goes wrong.

And last of all, you will have to strike it lucky to get your hands on a TX100 there is a mass shortage of these at the mo.

As Carl states, I did change my Z2 for the TX100, simply because I think the colours and contrast are that much better. Best of luck with your purchase :)
