Got up this morning turned telly on, picture for 1 second then off, buzzing niose, smell of burning components!!! Coud not turn on again so switched off from mains. Sounds terminal. Any ideas?? This telly is less than 4 years old (one of the first in the country) - tellys should last longer, no?

Last time I had a TV do anything like that it turned out to be just the on-off button burning out, a fairly quick and cheap repair job - and quite a common one on a lot of sets according to the engineer, so I wouldn't give up all hope just yet.

My Grundig Xantia 32" just had a similar symptom - when last switched on it made strange noise for 5 sec then died. Now it's in the repair shop costing me £160 to repair!
The engineer says something to do with power regulator and line output. I only got this tv for less than 2 years and paid £850 for it.
Can't beleive a German tv is of this poor components.
