Just ordered a second hand Denon AVR 3802 AV Surround Receiver.

I want to connect up a 5.1 speaker system to it. The speakers will mainly be used for TV, then music, then movies (DVD's), in that order. I am looking to spend about £1000 in total on the speakers.

Sound is more important to me, than look.

    Any advice people?

Somewhere to start would be nice ;)

I don't think you can beat the Quad L-ites at this price. They work really well in both 5.1 for TV/movies, and 2.1 for music.

Do you want to hear music in a 5.1 mode or is stereo mode enough?
If the 2nd option is the right one, I recommend spending the most on the fronts (about half of the budget), get a matching center (from the same series), 2nd hand rear speakers and sub with the rest of the cash.
