it has gone gold and will ship 21st. at least it is 100% and there wont be any delays, cant wait.
21st of June im presume? I cant wait for this one too! Any idea what sort of specs will be needed? and will this be a 100 percent online game?
Im not looking forward to monthly subscription costs.
21st for america 17th for europe!!! it is single and multiplayer. specs needed are higher then that of doom3 and half life 2!
Wow, just looked at some of the videos on the website and it looks awesome.
Hope my system is up to it
Check out gamespy or PCZone in the coming weeks - playable demo will be available .... its one of the reasons Im upgrading my GFX card - this baby is going to rock !
So I assume my FX5900 Ultra will not be up to the job then ? I can see me getting a bad case of upgradeitis soon !
Min specs on play are:-
Windows XP (does not work on Windows 2000/Me)
Pentium IV 1.7GHz (Pentium IV 2GHz or Athlon XP recommended)
512 MB RAM (1GB RAM recommended)
16x DVD-ROM drive
128 MB Graphics card
DirectX 9.0b compatible sound card
So you have to have XP as your operating system otherwise it will not work. I'm pretty sure you'll probably just about barely be able to play it at that spec and it will not look too brilliant either.
This type of game has to be played with all the bells and whistles switched on if your gonna play it like the developer intended. I'm pretty sure my A64 3500+, Leadtek 6800GT will not be able to cope with everything switched on at higher resolutions but I'm still hoping Here's a screen shot for those who haven't seen it yet. I recomend you watch some of the trailers and in game footage.

cannot wait for this. its just too damn long a wait. seen on another forum so guy who wad invited in a clan by EA to play BF2, that he ran the game at 1280x1024 with 4AA, 8AF with high eye candy on a system like AMD64 3400, 1gb ram and 6800GT and it ran smooth as hell and this wasnt optimised code neither, ea told them the final product will be alot better. dont think there will be games out for at least another 6 months that will stretch top end nvidia's & ATi's
Damn that looks good!! Must get that, hopefully wont have to upgrade to play the thing.
Might have to get more memory, there goes another £45, think the rest is alright
I havent got to upgrade mine since the half life 2 upgrade
3.4ghz p4 MSI 6800gt
My specs are sh*t but still looking forward to some online action!
I'm waiting for this type of game where damage to the environment is more realistic.
Like if a tank shell hits a wall, it blows a hole in it. Or makes the building collapse.
And bullet holes remain. Just as in real life, really. I guess that kind of thing isn't too far away. But it would make these games so much better to have an environment which takes damage and is changed because of it.
Agreed. As well as destructable environments that remain destroyed (hee hee), I'd like the game to focus more on vehicles not respawning so often also. I do realsie this would be frustrating for online multiplayer action, but it would give a whole new tactical meaning to the game to take out heavy artillery etc if it didn't respawn after 5 seconds.
Maybe as with the adjustable ticket rate (with one patch version 1.4?), they could have an adjustable vehicle re-spawn rate as a compromise to it not re-spawning at all?
Again, as you say, with destructable buildings etc, the game would play completely different. Regarding the available weapons classes, vehicles and combat modes, I am relatively confident EA will have gotten the game balance right. Afterall, it's just an updated version to the excellent DC mod. What concerns me though is the AI in single player - I really hope they improve this aspect, as I used to play offline quite often also.
Also, despite seeing a fair few videos, and knowing the the maps are meant to be scalable (depending on numbers playing), I am concerned about the range of environments offered and how these new maps will appeal, in comparison to those offered in BF1942. I like the sunshiney maps, El Al etc. One thing about BF Vietnam was the maps were so dreary and depressingly brown and overcast, I just didn't want to play them much (despite all the other negatives).
If BFV is anything to go by, the added textures will put an enormous strain on video card memory (hence recommendations for 256MB VRAM which I and many others don't have) as well as plenty of RAM. Just hoping my own modest setup will cope also - I'm not too keen on the idea of extensive upgrading just yet and want to wait to see what happens to graphics card prices when the next wave come in.
i like the idea of no re-spawn on veichles. The team would have to use there one tank or hele wisely or it could mean losing. that would but a whole new concept for the engineers to keep it running.
Yea, Pre-ordered! If anyone is interested I play over at GC http://www.global-conflict.org it's NOT a clan thing, basically you join a side, and have 1/2 battles a week (don't even need to play every battle) and once a large enough portion of the map is captured your side wins If you've never played in this kind of envoirment before, then you should try it. I'ts great fun (I prefer it to clan wars)!
Just hope my rig is up to it.. .looking at a new gfx card maybe
AMD 64 3200mhz
Win 2k (sure it will work on there)
Looks sweet. Whats the score with the W2k support ?
My gaming machine is primarily W2K.
I can't imagine ANYONE releasing a game that was xp only tbh.
Amazon have it as W2K and XP.
Pre ordered at Gameplay here #27.99
Cant wait for this game, i played 1942 to death never bothered with the addons though, what i really wanted though was modern warfair with black hawn down style levels and this looks like exactly that,
Gona be awesome fun online
Found this on EA's forums.
Looks like its XP only!
isnt the demo out tomorrow ? been looking round i hope you dont need special subscriptions on like fileplanet etc to get it.
Theres a developer chat on gamespy at 4PM today PST and they apparently will have the demo after the chat. EDIT or it could mean stay with there service to get the demo when its out, to be onest its abit mis leading in order to get more signups.
Join the Developer chat this Thursday at 4PM PST and find out the inside scoop on Battlefield 2. Then stay with us to download the demo-and get the latest news, videos, and much more. Plus see how good you get on our ladders and servers.
So if you want it first you would need to subscribe to fileplanet and pay but it wont be long before its on public servers but speed availability will be terrible to start with as its hugely awaited
I dont think it will take long for the demo to appear on a torrent tomorrow
the demo is easy to get hold of its getting a CD- key thats the problem...thats assuming they do it that way. if its no cd-key then we are all laughing
Should be available to everyone at the above link first before any other site
Friday i think
Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick ..... I want this now !
1 Hour until the demo will be released its official
Gamespot will release the demo before anyone else at the link below, for members of gamespot (like me ) they will have super fast servers available, for non members you can still download just not such fast servers
Out, but no good mirrors yet
Got it, and it DOES work on win2k, but says ONLY tested on XP.
