Wondering if anyone has a view on the Olympus C-160 as a starter camera? Looking to spend less than £100 if anyone has any alternatives!

    thanks

I was scanning the net mysef last night and came accross the Olympus C-310
Its a 3.2 mega pixel camera with a 3x optical zoom for approx £100 seems a good buy for the money.
    There's a review here
And a good package offer here
If you want just the Camera try somewhere like Ebuyer.

Thanks for the response, I like the c-160 for its ease of use and point and click features but prefer the c-310 for its more advanced feature set. Remarkably they can be found within a fiver of each other and the c-310 has a 3x Optical zoom which is far more appealing than just a plain old 3x digital. One question before I go ahead and buy the c-310 is whether the c-310 might be a touch too advanced for a beginner, is it worth getting it to learn with or should I stick with something more basic?

    thanks again

According to Olympus the C-310 is for beginners.
I was in Curry's and PC world today and they both have it for £115, but if you purchase it from pcworld you also get the option to purchase the Epson R200 photo printer at half price (£50) £99.99 normally, with any digital camera.
Now that has to be a good buy :)

Digital zoom is no good you can do it better on your computer afterwards and get better results, always go for the optical zoom.
I would think you would get into the camera in no time; the nice thing is you can play around and just delete the rubbish. I take most of my pictures on automatic but do occasionally do dip into the more advance stuff. And the nice thing of getting a slightly advanced camera is it allows you some growing room.

By the way xD memory is at a reasonable price at Amazon at the moment.

I may also be going C-310 myself...but Mrs Timh likes the Nikon 3200, but I think its a bit to small and it only has a 1.5" screen.
